 Since it was imported from eastern towns, back in the 7th century BC, Spain owes a lot to oil and its presence is as rooted in our culture as the olive trees themselves in the land.
 Words from all the languages of Spain derived from Latin or Latinized, related to the olive tree and oil, its cultivation and processing, and its trade and consumption, are mixed together in this book, with no other differences than the notice of their origin. There is also a wide collection of proverbs, with all its variants.
 Both the ones and the others, words and proverbs, are illustrated with photos and engravings, and enriched with quotes, verses and monographic boxes.

 "With a prologue by Ismael Díaz Yubero, in which he insists on the new fashion and the growing prestige of the olive tree and oil in the world, this beautiful book compiled by Augusto Jurado appears. The book is made up of two parts.
 The first is a dictionary of olive grove terms and what is obtained from it, illustrated with a precious collection of engravings (some very instructive, such as the  referring to the presses) and in which are included sayings, coplillas, verses and fragments of plays. From time to time, when dealing with terms that the author thinks are of greater interest, the dictionary unfolds and becomes a true encyclopedia, including extensive articles on Latin or Spanish classics that have dealt with the subject: this is the case of "adobo", or of the relation of the iabón with the oil, or the pages in which texts of the Latin CoIumela, or of Alonso de Herrera are included. In the second part, Jurado has compiled hundreds of proverbs and popular sentences that have oil and olive themes. Nor in this section are the verses of the classics lacking, from Virgilio or Lope de Vega. Without a doubt, a book as useful as it is delicious"
